How to Write a Non-Fiction Book in 60 Days?

As you would expect, there are a few limitations when it comes to writing a book in 60 days.

The first limitation is that the process outlined in this article is only applicable to nonfiction writing. That isn’t to say that a novel can’t be written in 60 days. However, the procedure would change slightly from that described here.

The next limitation is that we’re assuming you have a book concept and are either a topic specialist or have gathered all of the material and expertise you’ll need to write it. In other words, time spent conducting research or conducting interviews is not included in the 60-day period.

So, you do not dedicate the entire 60 days to writing the book, at least not in the traditional meaning of the word. The 60-day period includes time to complete the following tasks:

  • Consider the topic and aim of your paper.
  • Decide how to best communicate the information needed to attain your goal.
  • Identify what your readers already know and what they require.
  • Outline and arrange your book, which is an important step in the writing process.
  • Begin by writing your first draft.

The Three D’s

What are the requirements for finishing a nonfiction book in 60 days? Of course, subject knowledge is required. You must be able to write, but you do not need to be a professional writer to do so. Finally, the Three Ds are required: Desire, Discipline, and Dedication.

So, What are the Requirements for Writing a Book in 60 days?

1. Develop An Idea

It will be tough to write your book if you do not have a good idea for it.

2. Define Your Objective

Your purpose should be stated clearly, such as “this book will teach people how to produce the first draft of a nonfiction book in 60 days” or “this book will teach people how to become more effective and efficient business writers.”

A well-defined objective can assist you in focusing your writing so that you may accomplish your goals.

3. Effective Understanding of your Reader

You must identify what your readers require in order to convey the appropriate quantity of information in your book so that they may understand the issues you are addressing and take the appropriate action.

4. Organize your Thoughts

The key to creating a decent first draught of a book in 60 days is to organize your thoughts before you start writing.

Your thoughts are organized on three levels:

  • Look on the big picture topics that are relevant to your book idea.
  • Organize the subjects into a series of chapters to help you express your book concept in a logical manner.
  • Create thorough outlines for each chapter, including all of the points you wish to cover and the sequence in which you should address them.

How Much Time do you Need to Allot per Day?

Over the course of 15 to 20 days, you should be able to focus your book concept and outline your book in no more than two to four hours each day. The work you put in upfront will save you hours of writing time, which is why producing a solid first proposal of your book should take no more than 40 days if you follow your detailed outline.

Once you’ve finished the first draft, you can either edit and proofread the book yourself or hire a third party to conduct a final edit and proofreading to remove those little mistakes.

Look for an agency or publisher after you have a finished draft, or self-publish your book.

Writing a book, any book, is a passion project. Following a tested writing technique will assist you in getting started and keep ongoing. It will help you make better use of your time and, ironically, will assist you in writing a lot more powerful and effective book in just 60 days.
